Being an entrepreneur can feel a little bit lonely and isolating at times—especially if you also work from home. So here are 5 ideas to help you build more genuine connections as a solopreneur.
I put a poll up on my IG stories a while back asking if you ever feel lonely as an entrepreneur and the response was an overwhelming hell yes.
And while I like chatting with my floofy coworkers all day, it’s definitely nice to get some human interaction every once in a while.
So here are a few ideas to get you feeling more connected, pronto.
5 ways to find genuine connection as a solopreneur (especially if you wfh)
1. Have a weekly co-working sesh with a friend
My personal fave. This doesn’t have to be in-person—if you have a hectic schedule or low energy, jump on a video call.
And if you’re neurodiverse like me, body doubling (doing tasks with a buddy) like this can kick your productivity into overdrive 🔥
2. Join networking events, group challenges, or workshops
One of the best things I did last quarter was joining not one, but TWO group challenges put on by other creatives.
The amount of unhinged hype energy and collective creativity was unmatched. I left feeling super motivated to take some brave steps in my business—and with a bunch of new pals cheering me on along the way!
3. Build relationships with other entrepreneurs
IG is my fave for this. Look for common interests (you’re learning French? me too! or I just read that book, what did you think?) and then chat about it!
I also like voice notes for this ’cause it feels like a cozy chat over lunch. You might be surprised how quickly relationships can grow this way.
4. Join a local chamber of commerce
Every chapter is different, so check yours out, but they usually offer lots of networking events and gatherings, and you could even host your own event.
5. Get away from your desk
Sometimes, the simplest thing is the best. If none of these work for you right now, then just step back and go for a walk to grab boba with a friend, or call your bestie to catch up.
Have you tried any of these before, and if so, what was your experience like? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
